What are your opinions on this boy name?

My 4 1/2 year old little boy wants to name his new baby brother nevan.


His name would be Nevan --------------- Thomas.


What do you think?

I think it's cute, What a story they both will have to tell in school when they get older. Just be fair and let Nevan name the next baby....

When I was about his age, I was adamant that I wanted to name my new (female) kitty "Melvin." Now that I'm older, I'm glad that my mother suggested the name Katie, which I went with instead. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that while a name may presently seem like a good idea to younger children, as they grow older they may come to realize the value of parent intervention :)





There is absolutely nothing wrong with the name Nevan - so long as you love it too. But if your not so keen on it you should consider other options. Perhaps if you want your son to have a hand in choosing the name of the new baby, you could present him with a list of pre-approved names and ask him to chose one for you. Or alternatively, you could use Nevan as a middle name. That way, everybody has a say and your son doesn't feel so left out of the whole process.

Reply:I think its a unique name that I've never heard before... I happen to like uniqueness, so it sounds good to me... but if you are a traditional type person, it may not appeal to you... Thomas (which also happens to be my maiden name) is a pretty traditional plain name... so you may want to spice it up a bit with something unique... just a thought. :O)

Reply:I'm not a fan of that name and I think you should pick the name because that's for you and your hubby to decided not you 4 year old.... I think Gaven or Micah would be a better name..
