Why do parents give their daughter a boy name or a name that sounds like a boy?

That is lame and stupid! And I don't like a boy with a girly names like Taylor, Morgan, Tracy, and Shannon.

Why do parents give their daughter a boy name or a name that sounds like a boy?
yeah i don't get it either it think its pretty lame why cant they just pic a name that fits the sex of the baby don't they know there going to get made fun of oh well
Reply:who determines if they're girl names? the names taylor, morgan, tracy, ashley, and shelby were all originally guy names so i'm not sure why you're saying their girly when that's only been in the last few years that those have been girl names. Especially taylor, i've always considered that more of a boy's name. As for the other names, it depends on the parent. There are no set boy names or girl names. they're names and can go to whoever. I'm a girl and my name is Micah, which of course is usually a guy's name, but i've gotten so many compliments on my name and how pretty it sounds as a girl name. Same with my sister Jordan.
Reply:I think that's just a personal preference. I think it's cute, it just depends on the person. Also, I don't consider Taylor, Morgan or Shannon necessarily girly names. I think most of the names you listed are unisex names, I know a boy and a girl with almost each name you listed. I think this is a trivial thing to worry about, if you don't like it, than name your boy Jack and your girl Jill, there you go, no confusion there.

Reply:I think maybe because in there eyes and mind it is a girl name or unisex. Some parents do go overboard like naming your daughter Shawn or Dylan. But names like Riley is cute for girl or boy so I really think it depends.
