What do you think of the baby boy name Maslin?

It's French for little Thomas. The dad's name is Thomas. I like it but the dad thinks it's too feminine.

What do you think of the baby boy name Maslin?
I agree with dad, it's a nice name, but it does sound feminine.
Reply:little thomas. I don't think any boy wants to be considered little.

If you are looking for M names, how about Marek?
Reply:It is too feminine. What's with all these boys' names ending in Lin these days? It sounds like a girl's name (like Madeline, almost) and if you want to name him Thomas, just name him Thomas. Or T.J. for Thomas Junior.
Reply:Yuck
Reply:Its a really cute idea. However, I dont like the name much. I dont know how he would be treated in school with a name like that..You might want to think about that.??
Reply:I like it, its unique.
Reply:It is a little effeminate. Have you thought about one of these - they are all forms of Thomas:

TAVIS

TOM

TOMAI

TOMAS

or how about Thomas II or Thomas Jr. or III if the dad is already Jr.
Reply:kinda sounds like aslan from narnia.....but its sounds pretty neat
Reply:You have to be careful what you name your child these days, other kids will make fun of a name like that, they could choose some oter reason to pick on him but why give them one. I like Tomas, what is wrong with Thomas? Just like dad.
Reply:It Dose Sound Like A Girl Name.
Reply:I am not too fond of it does sound pretty girly
Reply:Maslin..I wouldn't do it.. dont' get offended but it sounds like a cult leaders name
Reply:if dads name is thomas ( as mine is ) then call your son . tommy.. (as my brother is ) and it worked well .. . when he was younger he was called tommy , as a adult hes called tom.. i agree maslin is a name that might cause problems for him at school ,, a bit feminine
Reply:Unless you live in France, he's going to have to spell that name for everyone he meets. You'll make it easier for him if you pick a name that is a little more commonly known. How about "Mason"?
Reply:Only if he has a great sense of humor will he get away it.
Reply:Hey. If it's pronounced Mason then it's okay but I still would like Thomas or Mason better. I say, don't take what you read here to heart.. if you love a name you should be able to go for it and don't worry about what the yahoo answerers think.
Reply:Maslin is cute but it sounds a little bit girlie. I think it is a wonderful idea tho if the dads name is Thomas. I very close friend of mine had a name running through the family that was Thomas but they did this.. Thomas Max then called him max. you could try that with a name you love. or even better Maslin Thomas.. hehe that's cute :)

Hope i helped =)
Reply:Honestly? My first thought was of kleenex. I pictured an ugly kid with a runny nose.

I'm sorry, but that was what I first pictured. Some names give us a strong image in our minds. When I think "Bertha" I think of a big fat girl. When I think Horace, I think of a boy with very large glasses backed in a corner as other boys steal his lunch money. When I thought of Maslin, I thought of a skinny boy with serious hygiene issues who gets picked on a lot....

If you want to name your boy after his dad, why not just call him Thomas? Or give him his father's middle name?
Reply:Nope. ur dad's right. there's Michael or Mitchell?
Reply:Its a great name, if you want your child to get his butt kicked on a daily basis.
Reply:I think it sounds like a cloth. Don't like it at all.
Reply:I like Tomas better or Thomas. Maas-slin? I don't know how to pronounce Maslin..
Reply:I have never heard of Maslin, but Thomas i have heard of. My middle name is Thomas. I wouldn`t name him that. Listen to your husband.
Reply:i like it!
Reply:Sorry but don't like it at all.

Why not just use the name Thomas. If you don't want it as a first name then maybe a a middle name.
Reply:The only time I've ever heard the name Maslin was a last name...
Reply:It's pretty ... PRETTY. I too think it's a bit too feminine for a little boy.
Reply:If You Like The Idea Of Naming Him After The Dad Then Try Maddox, It Means "Son Of Mad Dog"
Reply:Don't really care for it myself. But it is cute how it means "little Thomas".
Reply:yes
Reply:yes i agree with your hubby. i would just name him thomas
